I've started modeling. I was thinking about it, and I decided that I don't want to refine my animatic without first having a written draft of my story. But I know what my characters are going to look like, more or less, and the way that I model? I'm going to need all the time I can get.
Anyway! For posterity's sake, I'm gonna put my baby beginning models up here. The heads are both supposed to be low poly, but are probably a little heavy for where they are now. Baba Yaga is coming along okay. I still have some major issues to work out with Vasilisa. But. She does look like a girl, and that's a start. No, neither of them has hair yet! Or ... y'know ... bodies. But I've started! And that has to count for something.
I went to see the presentation from Blue Sky today and it was really awesome. It made me want to do a super-good job on texturing these characters. I think if anything, I'll be looking for ways to cut back on animation with this project so I can rig less and texture more. How can I cheat with that? Any suggestions?
I keep forgetting that I'm taking other classes. I haven't done any work for any of them! I think I need a whole nother Spring Break now. Can I get a do-over? No? Okay.

wow...yor're so fast..i'm still wandering with my character on paper...your 3d models, especial the older one, very match to your drawing...bravo~
your modeling looks amazing
Clair, I like the bottom model head a lot. The top needs more character to it. I agree with you about drawing young characters they are very hard to do. Some advice on that is first do a lot of drawings for your character, not one or two but at least twenty. They don't have to be really rendered drawings but simple sketches to figure out the right proportions to the face. In the end you will be ahead of the game when you start modeling and you have the sketch that you want in front of you, instead of sitting at the computer trying to think of what to model. If you need some help ask me.
-Good luck Tom
Hi Claire,
Your model is very good.
Regarding to the story:
I remember that some classics reviewed famous fairy tails or stories and made them really changed. It's so called 'Fairy Tails on a New Manner'.
I see you do the same and it looks interesting. It seems that Baba Yaga is kind in your story, or at least she does not do anything evil. Moreover, she looks very offended by … her life maybe. Audience may think that Baba Yaga was so evil during all her life and, as a result, finally she is alone, old and dreadful. She probably reasoned about her life a lot and got changed to be better, to be kind. Are you agree?
What if you reflect this in your story. For example, at the end, she can tell Vasilisa something like ‘Have a nice day’ or ‘Any time you need help, just ask me’, etc.
Good luck!

Great job with the modeling and the script! You seem to be headed in a really good direction!
