I didn't want to work on my animatic until I had a workable script, so ... I've been working on my script. Here's my current draft.
I'm not in love with my formatting. I wanted to have information about my shots along the side of the the action. And I only have one line of dialogue, so I wasn't sure how to stick it in. But in general, I think this is giving me a better sense of what I want to accomplish in each scene, so I'm really glad I did it.
My next job is going to be going back to the animatic, and separating out my back-plates so that I can show action.
I'm still looking for ways to cut back on animation.
I also kind of think that I want to start working on style and mood images. I'm inclined to think that if I do a good job on the back-plates for my next round of animatic, I can get a lot of use out of them in terms of helping me set up a color palate....
So that's what I've been up to. Writing and trying to focus. No drawing, no modeling, just writing.

Claire,
I actually can't open the script for some reason my acrobat is nonfunctioning, so I'll try online at school. However, I can see how much you've done! I didn't realize you've started to model and I think they are already showing the personality of the characters. For some reason Vasilisa's face already strikes me as beautiful and timid. I saw an animation last night that had a face in it that reminded me so very much of Yaga... I'll bring you the DVD, but looks like you've got her going great. Your color palette, just by looking at that little box tells so much, and matches your logo! I agree that cutting down on animation so you can focus on your texturing and lighting is key. If I think of a suggestion I'll write again. I just love your idea. Thanks for the Hans Christian Anderson story!! I'm amazed at the similarity and can see why it struck you to advice me to read it. It gave me some more ideas, Thank you thank you!!
Hi Claire,
I love the fact that you are using that kind of stylized background for your piece, it fits perfectly. Unfortunately with the camera movement, even if just a little, still reads as a single image sliding across the screen, which might look strange with an animated character. Perhaps you can put different layers of an image on different plates and move them at variable speeds, like in the old disney cartoons.
